چکیده

The spread of drug-resistant bacteria via food has contributed to the dissemination resistant among humans. However, status contamination with bacteria, particularly quantitative level in food, not yet been well elucidated. In this study, abundance colistin-resistant Escherichia coli meat samples was quantified understand origin available local Vietnamese markets. Fifteen each chicken and pork purchased from markets were assessed for presence E. mobile colistin resistance gene, mcr. results showed that 40% (6/15) 66% (10/15) samples, respectively, contaminated coli. median levels 1.8 × 10 4 id="M2"> 4.2 3 CFU/g, respectively. phylogenetic analysis isolates a sample mix multiple phylogenetical clones may have multiplied during sale. This is first study quantify samples.

Occurrence and genetic characteristics of third-generation cephalosporin-resistant Escherichia coli in Swiss retail meat.

Prevalence and genetic relatedness were determined for third-generation cephalosporin-resistant Escherichia coli (3GC-R-Ec) detected in Swiss beef, veal, pork, and poultry retail meat. Samples from meat-packing plants (MPPs) processing 70% of the slaughtered animals in Switzerland were purchased at different intervals between April and June 2013 and analyzed. Sixty-nine 3GC-R-Ec isolates were o...

Prevalence of Multidrug Resistant Shiga Toxin-Producing Escherichia coli in Cattle Meat and Its Contact Surfaces

Background: Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) are group of E. coli causing bloody diarrhea. The goal of this survey was to determine the prevalence of multidrug resistant shiga toxin-producing E. coli in cattle meat and its contact surfaces. Methods: Swab samples (n=120) were randomly collected from meat and contact surface of butchery shops in Sharkia province, Egypt. Prevalence o...

Salmonella and Escherichia coli contamination of poultry meat from a processing plant and retail markets in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria

Salmonella spp and Escherichia coli are the two most important food-borne pathogens of public health interest incriminated in poultry meat worldwide. This study is to access their levels in frozen poultry meat obtained in Ibadan, Oyo State and compare those obtained from a commercial Nigerian-registered poultry company having a broiler-processing plant, Sayed Farms Ltd(R), with that obtained fr...

Draft Genome Sequences of Colistin-Resistant MCR-1-Producing Escherichia coli ST1850 and ST74 Strains Isolated from Commercial Chicken Meat

We present here the draft genome sequences of two colistin-resistant mcr-1-carrying Escherichia coli strains belonging to sequence type 74 (ST74) and ST1850, isolated from commercial chicken meat in Brazil. Assembly of this draft genome resulted in 5,022,083 and 4,950,681 bp, respectively, revealing the presence of the IncX4 plasmid-mediated mcr-1 gene responsible for resistance to colistin.

Characterization of Colistin-Resistant Escherichia coli Isolated from Diseased Pigs in France

We studied a collection of 79 colistin-resistant Escherichia coli isolates isolated from diseased pigs in France between 2009 and 2013. We determined a number of phenotypic and genetic characters using broth microdilution to characterize their antimicrobial susceptibility. We performed pulse field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) to assess their genetic diversity and assign them to phylogroups. High-...
